Boca Raton Society

Planning a trip to Boca Raton? We’ve got the perfect first stop for you: the Boca Raton Historical Society. Let the past come alive in this house of historical artifacts that bring you the origins of this Palm Beach County city.

The Heart of Boca Raton

 Boca Raton Historical Society

The Boca Raton Historical Society is known for maintaining two buildings in the city: Town Hall and the F.E.C. Railway Station. Both of these buildings are on the National Registry of Historic Places, and have received Florida’s Trust Historic Preservation Award.

These buildings are also the foundation for the architectural vibe you’ll find in Boca Raton. You can’t mistake the shining gold dome coming from the top of Town Hall, marking the heart of the city and of course, the best place to start on your visit.

Educational Opportunities and Exhibits

You’ll find plenty of educational opportunities at the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum, too. These opportunities allow participants to see where it all began, with a display of archival information about the origins of Boca Raton, the families who built it, and the economy.

Additionally, the research library in Town Hall holds original maps, photographs, documents, and much more, so that viewers can really appreciate how far this city has come. While this acts as a permanent exhibit, the BRHS&M also offers traveling exhibits at other cultural organizations that include arts, history, crafts, and photography.

If that’s not enough, you can also enjoy Town Hall Talks, a series of lectures on various historical topics, hosted by the Historical Society. The BRHS&M holds history tours as well, where you can check out sites like the Boca Raton Resort & Club, the Boca Express Train Museum, Town Hall, and several other locations.

The BRHS&M also provides an educational program for schools, called Ticket to Ride. This program allows students to gain an appreciation for their local and state history, supplements regular social studies curriculum, and best of all, is held at the Boca Express Train Museum.

Events and Membership

The Boca Bacchanal Wine Fest & Auction is an annual, weekend-long event that supports the BRHS&M. The weekend events include a vintner dinner in the private home of a host, dinner and auction at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, and a wine tasting at the Mizner Amphitheatre.

If you’re feeling like one visit to the BRHS&M isn’t enough, consider becoming a member. You can choose from several levels of membership, and will receive discounts, newsletters, and special invitations to private events.

The Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum has something every member of your family will enjoy — but don’t just take our word for it! Schedule a tour today.
