2018 Honda Accord vs Ford Fusion
If you’re looking to purchase a fuel-efficient and affordable vehicle in the Palm Beach, Greenacres, and Wellington areas, the 2018 Honda Accord and the 2018 Ford fusion are both excellent options for you to consider.
So how do you choose between these two vehicles with excellent reputations? Check out this vehicle comparison between the Honda Accord and the Ford Fusion and then schedule a test drive at Braman Honda of Palm Beach.
While both these sedans perform incredibly well the difference in efficiency is pretty significant. The base model Accord features a 1.5L turbo 4-cylinder engine capable of producing 192 horsepower. That’s more than enough for most sedan drivers. The Fusion, on the other hand produces 175 horsepower with its 2.5L 4-cylinder engine.
The Fusion can’t even compete with that kind of power unless you opt for the overpowered V6 engine which absolutely kills your fuel economy. Anything less and you get 245 horsepower in the Fusion at most. Meanwhile the upper level Accord engine can offer 252 horsepower.
Despite the Accord’s generally greater horsepower, its fuel economy far outperforms what the Fusion is capable of. Let’s be generous and compare the least fuel efficient Accord to the most fuel efficient Fusion. The Fusion with its base 2.5L 4-cylinder can offer an EPA-estimated 25 MPG combined. Meanwhile, the least efficient Accord with all 252 horsepower still features an EPA-estimated 27 MPG fuel economy.
The difference gets even more drastic when you bring the most fuel efficient Accord into the mix. The base model Honda Accord differs by nearly 10 MPG with an EPA-estimated 33 MPG combined¹ and an even more impressive 38 MPG highway. The Ford Fusion doesn’t come close to that kind of efficiency.
Inside these sedans, you’ll find more room than you might expect. The Accord does have some advantages however. Tall people will find a little more headroom in the front, but rear passengers get the biggest benefit. The Accord offers 40.4 inches of legroom for its rear passengers which is more than the driver gets in the Fusion.
Backseat passengers in the Fusion still get 38.3 inches of room which is still impressive, but it doesn’t quite match up. If you’re more interested in carrying cargo in the trunk, both these sedans have more room than your normal sedan. The Fusion features 16 ft3 of trunk space even, but the Accord again takes the lead with 16.7 ft3 of trunk space.
