When Honda unveiled the 2016 Pilot, drivers in Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Greenacres were pleasantly surprised. This popular SUV has been given a complete redesign and has been upgraded to include a list of long-awaited technologies.

Design Overhaul

The 2016 Honda Pilot’s brand-new exterior design gives the SUV a softer look. Steering away from its previous rigid, boxy frame, the new model will feature more curves and will look similar to the Honda CR-V.

In addition, the 2016 Pilot will come with a number of exterior features, including LED headlights and an available power tailgate, and will be available in three new colors. This new model will also come in several trims: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite.

The interior of the 2016 Honda Pilot also got some updated design features. There are more soft panels, high-quality materials, a large center console complete with an optional monitor, and panoramic sunroof.

With a newly redesigned interior comes more space and cargo room. The passenger area of the 2016 Honda Pilot includes ample room for long drives. The front row offers about 40 inches of legroom, the middle row provides 38 inches, and in the final row of seats has about 32 inches.

Much like the seating area, cargo room for the new Pilot is spacious. In total, you’ll get 83.9 and 109 cubic feet of useable space depending on the trim you choose.

Powertrain and Performance

Though the 2016 Honda Pilot looks different, it still generates the same capable and powerful performance drivers have come to love. It houses a V6 engine that produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.

The transmission that works with the engine will depend on the trim level you want. The LX, EX, and EX-L vehicles will come with a six-speed automatic transmission, and the Touring and Elite models will come equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission with available paddle shifters and Shift-By-Wire.

For capabilities, the Pilot comes standard with a two-wheel drive system. However, for drivers looking for added performance confidence, this model will feature the optional Intelligent Variable Torque Management All-Wheel Drive System.

Entertainment and Safety Features

Driver technologies in the new Pilot have been expanded to include more entertainment and safety features. The new model year is set to come equipped with HondaLink Next Generation for the first time. This will allow drivers to access everything from music to news information to social media updates. Other technologies you can expect to see in the new Pilot are the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation system, SMS text message function, and a Blu-ray disc player rear entertainment system.

Safety technologies in the new Honda Pilot have also been added in the form of Honda Sensing.
